The Opportunity: 

We are looking for Versatile, curious, and energetic Staff Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale.  As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.   

Essential Functions:

  • Developing, testing, and documenting software programs alongside a collaborative engineering team 
  • Designing and implementing test automation frameworks to ensure high-quality software delivery 
  • Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to streamline software development and deployment processes 
  • Collaborating with product owners/managers to gather and refine requirements, ensuring alignment with existing tools and solutions across departments 
  • Breaking down complex systems into manageable and achievable tasks 
  • Analyzing business requirements to provide robust, scalable, and resilient solutions 
  • Enforcing software best practices, standards, and processes throughout the system development life cycle 
  • Participating in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing, and certification of software 
  • Performing code reviews to ensure changes meet development requirements; deploying and staging code in development environments 
  • Developing database queries, automating query generation, and fixing bugs in existing codebases 
  • Producing highly scalable, high-performing applications 
  • Participating in daily stand-ups and collaborating with the delivery team to improve productivity using development and quality metrics 
  • Working closely with our US-based team to coordinate efforts and maintain effective communication 

**We do not expect that any single candidate would fulfill all of these characteristics. For instance, we have exciting team members who are really focused on building scalable systems but didn’t work with payments technology or web applications before joining Visa.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Note: This role does not offer relocation or fully remote opportunities. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • BS in Computer Science or a related field, plus 10 years of related experience, or any combination of education and experience providing an equivalent background
  • 5 years of experience leading software engineering teams and mentoring developers
  • Ability to understand complex enterprise level systems, various integration points, decent understanding of all networking layers, good understanding of software development lifecycle and processes
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices and experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Proficiency with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Git, GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub pipeline, ARGO CD.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience working with QA testing and Automation
  • Experience working with UI automation with Cypress, Playwright, multi-browser testing
  • Experience working with API automation with Java based frameworks (Rest Assured, TestNg or JUnit) or JavaScript based frameworks (Jasmine or Jest).
  • Hands-on experience in test planning, test scenarios creation, test data creation and executing test cases based on the business scenarios
  • Working experience with web applications, Rest APIs, Java, JavaScript, shell scripting and RDBMS
  • Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Hazelcast and MySQL
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to provide innovative solutions
  • Desire to work with and share new and innovative ideas, constantly expanding your knowledge
  • Experience testing ETL, batch processes using Clover.
  • Experience in AI/ML
  • Experience with Gatling or JMeter

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 143,200.00 to 207,800.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
