Job Description
This opening is for a role on the Engineering Productivity (EngProd) team within Visa's Issuing Solutions organization. We have two missions in our charter:
Evaluate or develop software approaches to address problems that our adjacent software product teams don’t have space to take on themselves and,
Improve the developer experience and overall engineering productivity of the rest of the software teams in Issuing Solutions.
For the first mission, we may be evaluating new technologies, frameworks, tools, or processes. We might be developing a short-lived proof-of-concept application that allows us to test an idea out.
For the second mission, we’re invested in identifying bottlenecks and pain points in the developer workflows of the teams around us and rolling out improvements that benefit everyone. These may be improvements in Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tooling, consulting on effective test strategies, improvements in developer infrastructure, etc.
We operate outside of the release and delivery schedules of our adjacent product engineering teams, but we are still accountable to helping make things better for all those teams.
We expect all software engineers on this team to:
Be capable of contributing to development efforts outside of their core programming language
Work with small, agile teams of adjacent engineers (anywhere from 2-5 at a time) on targeted improvement projects, prototypes, proofs-of-concept
Work with teammates and leads to resolve ambiguous requirements and set realistic milestones and goals
Clearly communicate progress and lessons learned
The projects that our team takes on will vary over time, so we're looking for teammates that can thrive in an environment that is constantly growing and evolving.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
