Job Summary
Vision Academy Charter School of Excellence is seeking a dedicated and vigilant School Security Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role requires a proactive approach to school security, including monitoring school grounds, enforcing safety procedures, and responding effectively to incidents to maintain a positive and orderly school environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and patrol school grounds, hallways, and entrances to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Utilize surveillance equipment, including CCTV systems, to observe and document activities as needed.
- Respond promptly to any security concerns, disturbances, or emergencies, following established school protocols.
- Enforce school policies and safety regulations to support a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Conduct routine safety checks of school facilities and equipment, identifying potential risks or hazards.
- Assist in emergency situations by providing First Aid or CPR as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and detailed reports of daily activities, incidents, and any unusual occurrences.
- Collaborate with school administration, staff, and local law enforcement when necessary to address security concerns.
- Participate in training sessions related to school safety, de-escalation strategies, and emergency preparedness.
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a school setting is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with surveillance systems (CCTV) and school safety protocols is a plus.
- Strong conflict management and de-escalation skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Knowledge of school security practices and child protection policies is beneficial.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable; candidates should be willing to obtain these certifications if not already held.
- A background in military service or crisis response may be advantageous.
