Duties
- Assist optometrists during patient examinations by preparing the examination room and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for use.
- Conduct preliminary tests on patients, including visual acuity assessments, tonometry, retinal imaging, etc.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients about contact lens fitting, care instructions, and proper eye care practices.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the office environment while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance the overall patient experience in both pediatric and adult populations.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical optometry principles and practices.
- Excellent patient care skills with a focus on building rapport and trust with patients.
- Proficiency in managing medical records and understanding HIPAA compliance requirements.
- Experience in a medical office setting is preferred
- Ability to perform basic procedures with an understanding of anatomy relevant to eye care.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and staff members.
