REPORTS TO : DOPS / Registered Nurse
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Private Duty Nurse provides nursing care and services to clients in their place of residence / facility in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures and under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduate of an approved RN Program
2. NYS Licensed and currently registered as a Registered Nurse
3. MUST have previous Home Health or Long-term Care experience
4. MUST hold a current CPR Certification

1. Knowledge of client assessment procedure.
2. Knowledge of the client teaching process.
3. Knowledge of disease processes.
4. Knowledge of medication administration, via oral, IM, and SQ.
5. Knowledge of medication interactions (drug-drug, drug-food).
6. Knowledge of the principles of therapeutic diets.
7. Knowledge of infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
8. Knowledge of catheter insertion and care.
9. Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate information with clients of all ages and social economic levels.
