We are currently seeking a Medical Billing Specialist (Ophthalmology) to join our team. We are a busy ophthalmology practice; therefore, the ideal candidate must have at least one (1) year of prior experience in medical billing, including claims, payments, and patient statements, as well as strong customer service.

You'll be a great fit if you find joy in:
- Reviewing and submitting accurate claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
- Patient check in, check out, answering phones, appointment scheduling.
- Answers questions from patients, clinical staff, and insurance companies.
- Identifies and resolves patient billing issues.
- Reviews denials from insurance companies and prepares appeals.
- Reviews rejected claims and correct errors to facilitate successful submission of claims.
- Posting patient and insurance payments to patient accounts with a high degree of accuracy in a high-volume, time-sensitive work environment.
- Maintains confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
- Prior Authorization and Collections experience is a PLUS

To be considered, you'll need:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- 1-2 Years of Knowledge of ophthalmology billing/collection practice
- Ideal candidate must be willing to cross train into check in/check out processes.
- Knowledge of business office procedures
- Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices
- Ability to operate a computer, computer software, and basic office equipment
- Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system
- Skill in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
- Must be well organized and detail-oriented
