About the Company
We've been engaged by a high growth publicly-traded, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company in New Haven to recruit an Assistant Controller. This newly created role will report to the Controller and be charged with building their accounting controls and processes and supporting their best-in-class accounting department which supports the company’s ambitious growth plans. S/he will help to execute the company’s external reporting requirements, design and implement an appropriate level of internal controls and manage the general accounting function.
About the Role
Highlights include:
- Oversee, coordinate, and draft all key sections of their SEC filings (including Forms 8-K, 10-Q / K financial statements, footnotes, and Management's Discussion and Analysis, Proxy, and other required filings).
- Ensure adherence to US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
- Investigate complex accounting matters and reporting issues and assist in the preparation of technical accounting position papers.
- Lead SOX compliance efforts, including documentation and direct coordination with external auditors and consultants.
- Align processes and systems to meet near-term needs while keeping an eye towards long-term scalability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Legal, and R&D teams to support financial decision-making.
The ideal candidate needs to have the ambition to be a Controller in the future. S/he will possess excellent operational, SEC reporting and technical accounting skills, strong financial acumen and an entrepreneurial spirit.
