About the Role
The Senior Associate will report to the Controller overseeing the new strategic platform. The individual will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate quarterly and annual financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsibilities include compiling and analyzing financial information, preparing journal entries, reconciling reports and financial data, preparing balance sheet account reconciliations, assisting the FP&A team with forecasting, and supporting ad hoc reporting needs. This role will collaborate with various business units in Chicago, Dallas, and New York, as well as the Connecticut-based corporate accounting team. The Senior Associate will play a key role in the monthly and quarterly close process and contribute to projects aimed at improving the timeliness and efficiency of financial reporting. Additionally, the Senior Associate will partner with business and functional leaders.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate and complete quarterly close procedures, including journal entries across multiple company subsidiaries, quarterly reconciliation of intercompany accounts, and general ledger reviews.
- Develop and perform various accounting and financial analysis functions in support of a newly formed asset management vehicle.
- Prepare and present quarterly accounting and reporting, analytical reviews, and ad hoc analyses for the senior finance management team.
- Ensure management teams have the appropriate financial data to support budgeting, forecasting, and other reporting needs.
- Maintain financial close and reporting documentation and create new documentation as needed to ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Assist in preparing audit-related work papers for interim and annual audits, addressing follow-up questions and inquiries as they arise.
- Liaise with third-party fund accounting teams to ensure consolidated reporting requirements comply with US GAAP and meet the company's closing calendar deadlines.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a public accounting-trained professional with three to six years of accounting experience. They must have a strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting. Experience with Net Suite and other financial reporting systems will be a plus. Candidates must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
