Vision Transportation, Inc. is a family-owned company providing transportation to students in the ISD 727 (Big Lake), ISD 728 (Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman) and ISD 885 (St. Michael-Albertville) school districts. Our mission is to support our school districts’ education process by providing reliable, caring and safe transportation to students in these communities. We work closely with United Bus Sales and Hoglund Body and Equipment to provide sales and service needs of the transportation industry. Job Summary
The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of employee management for Vision Transportation and United Bus Sales including: hiring, training, performance evaluation, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and ensuring compliance with labor laws, ultimately aiming to attract, retain, and develop talent that aligns with the companies’ strategic goals. Assists the Human Resource Generalist and the employees as applicable for Hoglund Body and Equipment.
Essential Functions
- Administering employee benefits plans, perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions as they relate to pay and benefits.
- Conduct benefit open enrollment for employees; maintains new hire benefit enrollment.
- General familiarity with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) regulations, COBRA, OSHA logs, FMLA and other state and federal regulations.
- Work with third party benefits administrator.
- Maintain employment job postings, employee review schedules and prepare forms as requested.
- Process employee injury reports. Manages all worker’s compensation cases and advises supervisors.
- Prioritizes well-being of employees, offers support at all levels within the companies and has established policies in place that encourage respect, trust, support and positive company culture.
- Support the Controller by preparing monthly and annual audit reports with ties to payroll, benefits and Human Resources data.
- Conducts or assists with employee exit interviews.
- Respond to unemployment claims and hearings.
- Assists in employee handbook compliance and policies by staff and managers, as well as making any necessary revision.
- Reconciles Insurance vendor invoices to employee deductions each month and makes changes as needed.
- Assists company’s managers with any termination and documents all events leading to termination.
- Reviews payroll reporting before it is finalized for check processing timely.
- Maintains all wage garnishments and levies. Reports information per State and attorney requests.
- Maintains an open-door atmosphere for all employees.
- Maintains employee files as needed for law.
- Keeps all employee and employer information confidential.
- Maintains interview and onboarding processes as needed.
- Works with payroll processing company to maintain employee information.

This position is responsible for supervising and ensuring compliance of employees in the human resources department.
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s and advanced degree required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
