Account Manager
Summary
The Account Manager is responsible for managing OEM customers, overseeing all current sales activities and new program launches. This role serves as a liaison between customers and internal OEM organizations, including our parent company and sister companies. The Account Manager assists the Sales Manager in directing activities within the Turbo Department to align with company goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage total customer account responsibilities, which include sales forecasting, commercial negotiation, supply planning, and delivery to enhance customer satisfaction and profitability.
- Oversee the product lifecycle management, which encompasses receiving RFI/RFQ, developing pricing strategies, providing quotes and price adjustments, forecasting, negotiating, and processing customer purchase orders (POs).
- Support sales activities through the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process to ensure successful program launches.
- Maintain a list of open action items with customers; prepare reports and meeting minutes; keep records; organize files related to products and customer activity; and report to the Sales Manager and our parent company in Japan.
- Communicate all customer requirements regarding design changes, commercial concerns, manufacturing, and quality control to colleagues in the US, Japan, Thailand, and Europe.
- Negotiate engineering and commercial solutions with customers and facilitate effective communication between customers and our parent and sister companies.
- Investigate market information on products and pricing, providing competitive commercial offers to enhance sales and profits.
- Review and negotiate legal documents such as Terms and Conditions (T&C) and Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) from customers, with support from the legal department.
- Maintain and manage customer portals as the administrator.
- Oversee customer scorecards, accounts receivable, and arrange customer visits.
- Attend customer training and other relevant courses to ensure success in the role.
- Promote product sales through meetings and presentations.
- Travel domestically and internationally to customers and manufacturing sites as required.
- Attend early morning and evening conference calls as necessary.
- Provide support for co-workers' activities as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in the automotive industry is required, with a preference for experience in the turbocharger sector.
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in computer applications, including MS Word, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods during shifts.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.
