Job Title: Compliance Associate
Job Overview:
The Compliance Associate is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration related to trust accounting and regulatory compliance within the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Understand and adhere to policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations, while advising the organization on trust-related activities.
- Reconcile transactions related to endowment care, funeral services, and merchandise and services trusts with the general ledger and trust statements.
- Reconcile accrual accounts and additional general ledger accounts with support schedules for the endowment care trust and preneed trust.
- Prepare supporting schedules and journal entries for monthly accruals.
- Review monthly transactions for endowment care and preneed trusts to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Execute daily trust processes, including processing withdrawals, transferring information and funds to the trustee, properly allocating earnings to customer accounts, and monitoring investments.
- Maintain a calendar of deadlines, monitoring due dates and notifying relevant parties as necessary.
- Keep summary schedules of transactions and related processes up to date.
- Collaborate with individual business locations to ensure timely trust reporting.
- Provide support for annual financial audits and regulatory audits as needed.
- Assist with the documentation and completion of various trust tax returns for multiple districts.
- Conduct ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required.
- Stay informed of any changes to preneed and trust regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing with an acceptable driving record.
Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Strong overall computer skills.
- Proficiency in local and virtual data management tools (e.g., Internet, Dropbox, Microsoft file management structure).
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Effective communication skills, particularly verbal, with the ability to resolve issues professionally.
- Positive attitude and ability to maintain a cheerful work environment through organization, willingness to learn, and effective communication.
- Capable of managing multiple projects and exercising good judgment.
Travel Requirements:
- This position may involve up to 15% of out-of-area and overnight travel, primarily local and occurring during the business day.
