Director of Tax and Treasury
Summary/Objective
The Director of Tax and Treasury oversees tax and treasury functions, reporting to the Vice President. This role leads tax reporting and compliance while managing global cash functions, collaborating with internal teams and external service providers. The position includes two direct reports and a broader split team in tax and treasury.
Essential Functions
Tax
- Ensure tax compliance in Canada and the U.S.
- Perform global tax planning, reporting, and analysis.
- Support financial reporting with quarterly and annual tax provisions.
- Work with external consultants on tax matters.
- Manage tax audits, indirect tax returns, and payroll tax processes.
- Advise on cross-border transactions and support M&A with tax implications.
- Implement technology to improve tax efficiency and stay updated on tax regulations.
Treasury
- Develop cash management strategies to optimize liquidity.
- Enhance cash flow forecasting for operational needs.
- Manage bank accounts and support intercompany cash flow.
- Ensure compliance with lender requirements and optimize capital structure.
- Develop risk management strategies for currency and interest rates.
Competencies
- Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. tax regulations and cash management.
- Strong leadership and experience in international financial reporting.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
- 7 years in tax and/or treasury leadership with compliance experience.
- Willingness to travel between the U.S. and Canada.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Travel
Up to 15% of travel between the U.S. and Canada is required.
