Job Description
This position is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of IT-related infrastructure initiatives for traffic and transit projects. Responsibilities include managing resources and developing project timelines. The ideal candidate must demonstrate advanced knowledge and proficiency in project management, along with the associated support services.
The applicant must be willing and able to fulfill job duties as required, which may include working nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of IT-related infrastructure initiatives for Nashville's traffic and transit projects, ensuring timely project delivery, adherence to scope, and budget compliance.
- Facilitate communications between ITS and stakeholders, providing updates and addressing issues related to transportation initiatives.
- Manage project resources, develop timelines, and ensure project completion on time and within budget.
- Oversee external vendors and subcontractors, managing financial aspects and payments related to the project.
- Provide detailed explanations of the scope of work to contractors, outline expectations and requirements, and oversee all stages of the construction process.
- Review facility placement in the field against engineering design specifications, approve or deny change orders, and authorize invoice payments to contractors.
- Assist in defining, writing, and implementing standards and procedures for various IT/OSP technologies.
- Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Provide regular updates to senior executives and stakeholders on project progress through status reports, budget tracking, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with team members to develop plans and drive important business strategies that enhance customer service, streamline processes, and achieve financial goals.
- Identify and address gaps in service policies, practices, and procedures, documenting each finding.
- Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, mitigating potential delays and obstacles.
- Ensure adherence to project management processes and standards.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A combination of education and experience that prepares the candidate to perform the duties of the position effectively. Typically, employees have at least 6 years of experience in project management services with a proven track record in managing IT-related infrastructure projects, vendor management, and resource management.
- Successful candidates will have experience communicating complex technical material to both technical and non-technical audiences and possess strong analytical skills for solving difficult problems.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A strong background in formal project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Jira, Asana, Trello).
- Extensive experience in technical team management and development.
- A solid understanding of project management operations and IT/OSP technologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal and collaboration abilities.
