Position Summary:
The HR Manager is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management in alignment with the mission, values, and goals of the organization. This role will ensure that HR policies and practices foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace and support employee engagement, organizational performance, and legal compliance.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, including 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in the non-profit sector strongly preferred.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the values of the non-profit sector.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on organizational structure, culture, workforce planning, and change management.
- Align HR strategy with the non-profit’s mission and strategic objectives.
Talent Acquisition & Management:
- Oversee full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies.
- Develop programs for talent development, performance management, and succession planning.
- Guide managers on employee relations and conflict resolution.
HR Operations & Compliance:
- Ensure HR policies and procedures compliant with federal, state, and local laws and applicable federal contract requirements.
- Maintain employee records and oversee HRIS systems.
- Administer compensation, benefits, and leave programs.
- Lead efforts for organizational compliance with workplace safety, labor laws, and ethical standards.
Employee Engagement & Culture:
- Promote a positive workplace culture that supports staff morale, well-being, and productivity.
- Design and implement employee recognition and wellness initiatives.
- Conduct regular employee satisfaction and engagement surveys.
Training & Development:
- Identify training needs and oversee the development and delivery of internal training programs.
- Foster continuous learning and professional growth for all staff.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work a minimum of full-time hours.
- Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle and/or operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to sit for extended periods of time
- Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds
Work Environment
- Work in an office environment and remote
- Occasional travel for events, trainings, or satellite offices.
