Position Summary:
The Social Service Driver will safely transport staff and clients with vision impairment in our service area, working closely with the Rehab Team for scheduling, while acting in accordance with company values, vision and mission.
Education, Experience, & Skills
- High School degree required
- CPR and First Aid Certifications (or ability to obtain)
- Candidates must successfully complete a background check, including PA criminal history, child abuse clearance, and FBI fingerprinting, in accordance with applicable regulations and job requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check
- Proficiency in safely operating vehicles
- Access to personal vehicle as needed

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely transport visually impaired staff to scheduled appointments and community meetings as needed
- Provide transportation and support services to clients in accordance with the PAB contract including, but not limited to medical appointments, pharmacy, supermarket, and post office
- Assist clients with grocery or personal shopping, including navigating stores, identifying requested items, completing purchases, and assisting with carrying and storing purchased items
- Transport clients to and from monthly educational/support groups and providing assistance to the facilitator during the group as needed
- Provide human guide and/or physical assistance to passengers, ensuring their comfort and safety during transit, while guiding those with mobility issues for the duration of the appointment
- Assist with transporting, picking up, and dropping off supplies, donations, or other essential items in support of the agency’s mission
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of rehabilitation vehicles, including conducting visual inspections, cleaning, washing, and scheduling routine maintenance as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work part time hours on a flexible basis
- Fine motor skills – use hands to finger, handle or feel
- Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle and/or operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to sit for extended periods of time which may include vehicle
- Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds
Work Environment
- Ability to navigate vehicle/routes safely while following directions
- Must be able to sit in a vehicle for periods of time
- Travel up to 90% of the time, which may also include public-facing forums and company-sponsored events
- Ability to walk and guide people for extended distances
