POSITION: Destination Experience Assistant
STATUS: Part-time (Non-Exempt) - Monday and Friday, 10 am – 2 pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 8:30 am-4:30 pm (Evenings/Weekends may be required)
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Destination Experience
SUMMARY:
This position supports the organization’s destination experience service model. The Destination Experience Assistant assists in visitor services, event coordination, and communications.
POSITION ROLE AND ACCOUNTABILITY DESCRIPTION
Communications
- Calendar of events - updates weekly VBN calendar of events; reviews and approves submissions and follows up on inquiries from potential new partners; and develops entries for the I Love NY calendar of events website.
- Buffalo Niagara This Week – produces weekly event listings featured in the industry newsletter.
- Departmental Report- tracks monthly Seymour events, visitor guide requests, and volunteer activity
- Distribution – helps coordinate the annual visitor guide and brochure distribution to attractions, visitor centers, and delivery into New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Downloads all online guide requests and sends to the mail service. Fulfills Haunted History Trail and Preservation leads.
Event Coordination
- Industry nights, meetings, and trainings - provides CRM and logistic support. Tracks attendance and updates systems.
- Sales Services - collaborates with the department to monitor volunteer opportunities, coordinates placement, and sends weekly updates with scheduling reminders.
Visitor Services
- Visitor inquiries – handles incoming calls and requests from walk-ins.
- Seymour Mobile Visitor Center – working with department staff, drafts and coordinates the seasonal schedule per approval of the President & CEO.
OTHER:
- Hybrid work schedule – 3 days in office / 2 days remote; hybrid schedule is subject to change in the future.
- Physical demands of the job include, but are not limited to, sitting, bending and lifting up to 35 pounds.
- Some local travel may be required. Must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance and own or have access to an automobile.
- Position may require evening and/or weekend work.
Position Compensation: $19/per hour, 30 hours per week benefits
