What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Coordinator position at Visit Mountaineer Country CVB?
The Visit Mountaineer Country Convention and Visitors Bureau (VMCCVB) is seeking a Marketing Coordinator who is creative, self-starting, customer-focused, dependable, enjoys teamwork, and can effectively contribute to its “One more night, one more dollar” mission.
The VMCCVB’s vision is “to make Mountaineer Country the region’s prime destination for travelers through the recruitment of groups, events and activities that enhance the quality of life in the community and establish the Visit Mountaineer Country CVB as the area’s primary resource for travel assistance.”
As such, the Marketing Coordinator will work directly with the Marketing Manager to develop and execute the company’s marketing plan and any associated strategies, including but not limited to:
● Creating content for social media platforms;
● Updating and maintaining content on VisitMountaineerCountry.com;
● Building and managing the internal photo/video library;
● Developing communications plans for the company’s special projects (i.e., Tourism Ambassador Program, annual Tourism Summit, etc.);
● Communicating with giveaway winners to secure ample contracts and arrange pick-up of giveaway items with Destination Development Coordinator(s);
● Accompanying Destination Development Coordinator(s) on site visits/partner meetings, as needed, to take photo/video content;
● Assisting in training/onboarding for the VMCCVB marketing internship program;
● Attending and engaging with local events/tourism partners for content creation on the VMCCVB’s social media accounts;
● Researching and maintaining a database of regional destination information for archiving and publication purposes (including regional attractions, restaurants, events, shopping districts, etc.);
● Operating designated office computer to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software;
● Serving as a Tourism Ambassador for Mountaineer Country and the entire state of West Virginia; and
● Other duties as assigned
The Marketing Coordinator will report directly to the Marketing Manager for proper editing and approval of all written content, including columns, press releases, social media posts, blogs, e-newsletters, and other communication in support of the VMCCVB’s mission and annual marketing plan.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising (or related field)
● Excellent grammar, written and oral communication skills
● Real-world knowledge & experience in managing professional social media accounts
● Strong ability to execute while managing multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines
● Ability to effectively communicate with internal team/stakeholders and external partners
