POSITION PURPOSE
: The Start Up Angel Care Professional position is accountable for caregiving up to 40 hours per week with the potential for Overtime (at management discretion), leading Angel Professionals including training and introductions, delivering supplies for client needs within the home, and general expectations of the office. The Start Up Angel Care Professional reports to the Care Manager.

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt, Hourly

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan (Visiting Angels) operates on the Entrepreneurial Operating System, EOS. You will be taught this system and implement the concepts and practical tools to clarify, simplify, and achieve Visiting Angel's vision.

1. Provide client care per Angel Care Beyond Compare Top 12

2. Provide non-medical home care services for our Clients including but not limited to:

  • hygiene assistance- bathing, toileting, skin care, back rub, hair care, nail care, dressing and undressing, feeding, oral hygiene, shaving, grooming and bedtime care.
  • meal preparation and planning
  • medication reminders
  • light housekeeping
  • errands
  • shopping
  • transportation
  • companionship- engage in respectful social interactions, friendly conversation, empathetic support, positive attitude and behavior.
  • using assisted devices- walkers, wheelchairs, gait belts, sit to stands, hoyer lifts, slide boards, etc.
  • Transfers- exercise, ambulation and transfer activities. Be aware of proper body mechanics.

3. Assisting the Client in redirecting behaviors when they are posing a risk to themselves or others.

4. Prepare appropriate documentation of the client's care or service(s) furnished.

5. Report all Client and employee incidents/accidents to the Support Team immediately.

  • Observe safety precautions including: wiping up wet floors, spills, and other falling hazards immediately. Also report safety hazards, frayed electrical cords, unsecured handrails, malfunctioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors/alarms, defective equipment, or environmental hazards to Support Team on the same day of observation.

6. Maintain absolute confidentiality of all information pertaining to the Client, including Clients' families.

7. Respond and attend to Clients’ requests promptly.

8. Communicate effectively with all members of the team.

9. Maintain proper hand washing techniques.

10. Participate in required in-service training programs to meet regulatory requirements.

11. Understand that regular, consistent attendance is necessary to serve Clients.

12. Accept and fulfill assignments with Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan and exercise judgment in accepting assignments.

13. Notify the office of educational opportunities or skills needed on the job.

14. Perform related duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the management team.

16. Start Up Angel Visits

  • Conducts and completes start up visit checklist including an Angel Professional report, Angel Professional and client visual observations, supply check in home, client report
  • Works in the field with clients and Angel Professionals, in-services and field training for Angel Professionals as assigned or required.
  • Gather information about Care plan updated and complete those in Axiscare.

17. Needs in Home

  • Maintains, tracks, and delivers needed supplies and items for client homes.
  • Be available for coverage within client homes for time off requests and call offs.

18. Expectations of office team

19. Answer the telephone, text devices, and greet the public.

20. Document all interactions through Axiscare and tag appropriately.

21. Maintain and utilize Office 365 components.

22. Maintain regular, predictable attendance.

23. Uphold the Angel Care Service guarantee.

24. Perform duties deemed appropriate through EOS.

25. Assist with general office needs such as printing, scanning, faxing, mail.

26. Manage calls in accordance with the company policies.

Requirements:

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Working hours will be divided between Start Up Angel and Angel Professional Responsibilities, this will change based on the business requirements.
  • Earn your wings must be completed or completed within 2 weeks of hire.
  • Must complete an interview process.
  • Must be able to train Angel Professionals for "full care." This includes hands-on care (feeding, peri care, bed bound care, BP/Nebulizer/Glucose), the use of transfer devices (gait belt, Hoyer, sit-to-stand), dementia care, palliative care and grief support.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) applications, scheduling systems and other healthcare industry-related software.
  • Excellent conceptual thinking skills with the capacity to analyze complex issues that are sensitive in nature. Excel in conflict resolution and solution implementation.
  • Ability to listen and communicate clearly, fluently, diplomatically – both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to remain flexible, resilient, calm and maintain a sense of humor in all situations.
  • Present a well-groomed image that reflects the professionalism of the business.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, delegate and accurately complete work activities within deadlines while managing interruptions.
  • Work independently and proactively with minimal direction and/or supervision.
  • Ability to generate goodwill for Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan with clients, their family members and other referral sources. Demonstrate a strong commitment to client service excellence.
  • Ability to lawfully work in the U.S.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Combination of sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, lifting, climbing stairs and moving intermittently during working hours.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately to meet the requirements of this position.
  • Must be able to properly operate office equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to maintain verbal and written communication with co-workers, leadership team, supervisors, clients, family members, vendors and all business associates within or outside Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan.
  • Successful completion and ongoing compliance with all licensing, certification, continuous education, background testing, drug and alcohol testing, OIG and health assessments as may be required under federal, state, or local law or per employer policy.
  • All the above requirements are subject to the ADA requirements.
