We are currently looking for a RN Hospice Coder to to ensure accurate coding of hospice diagnoses for all VNAHG hospice admissions.
*This position is onsite in Toms River*
Responsibilities
- Supports organization’s mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers
- Performs assessment of documentation to ensure positive outcomes for patients and agency
- Ensures adherence to hospice coding and ICD-10 coding guidelines, collaborates with hospice physicians, clinical managers, nurses, and Director of Hospice and Education and Performance Improvement to ensure that claim diagnoses are appropriate for hospice admission documentation
- Reviews admission documentation for patient diagnoses and ensures that hospice chart reflects accurate patient status
- Provides analysis of documentation and implements changes with staff to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Assists with triaging phone calls on a daily basis when applicable
- Collaborates with physicians and other health care providers regarding client’s needs
- Provides education and serves as a resource for field staff
- Monitors quality and appropriateness of services provided to ensure patient satisfaction
- Covers for the office for Clinical Manager as directed by the CNO / Director of Hospice Education and Performance Improvement
- Adheres to agency infection control and safety policies
Qualifications
- RN, BSN Preferred
- 5 years hospice experience, 2 years chart review/coding experience in nursing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Management or education experience preferred
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of reimbursement and HIS requirements
- Valid driver’s license
