Part-Time Speech Therapist
VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove
Are you a passionate and dedicated Speech Therapist looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients in the community? The VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove is seeking a part-time Speech Therapist to join our compassionate and skilled team.
The speech-language pathologist or speech therapist provides care to home health patients in their place of residence in accordance with the patient’s individualized plan of care through the process of data collection, planning, implementation and evaluation. The speech therapist works effectively and interacts with patients, caregivers, and other members of the home health team while maintaining quality care in accordance with accepted standards of speech pathology practice. The speech language pathologist also provides palliative speech therapy services to VNA Hospice patients on an as-needed basis, in accordance with the hospice plan of care.
Speech Therapy Services:
- Conduct appropriate evaluative procedures, assess patient’s home environment as appropriate, and identify patient’s equipment needs relative to speech/language function.
- Identify functional speech defects, establish goals to improve patient’s speech function and participate in the development of the team care plan.
- Administer speech therapy program utilizing specialized therapeutic techniques and and/or equipment in accordance with the plan of care.
- Recommend communication devices/aids as indicated.
- Provide speech language therapy to hospice patients with a focus on palliative care by focusing on such therapeutic service areas as swallowing food, assistance with speaking or communication devices in order to enhance quality of life when quantity is limited.
- Confer with the attending physician, home health or hospice team members, and patient, family, and/or caregivers to promote coordinated and comprehensive care.
- Communicate the plan of care to attending physicians, home health or hospice team members, and patients, family, and/or caregivers.
- Instruct the patient, family, and/or caregiver and other team members in the patient’s treatment regime as indicated.
- Prepare and submit clinical and progress notes in a timely manner and in accordance with VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove policies and procedures, Medicare Conditions of Participation for Home Health and Hospice, licensure laws, and other related state and federal regulations.
- Maintain clinical competency in speech language pathology practice and theory.
- Perform other duties as required to facilitate the delivery of speech language pathology services and swallowing assistive services.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a master’s degree from an accredited program in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Meet the education and experience requirements for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology, granted by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Must possess current license as a Speech Language Pathologist from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or made application for same.
- Must possess valid driver’s license.
- Must have the use of an automobile in good working condition and automobile insurance.
- Maintains current CPR certification.
- Satisfactory references from employers and/or professional peers.
- Satisfactory criminal background check.
