Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) to join our compassionate team in Cape, Scott, and Mississippi County. The Hospice program provides essential care for patients with terminal illnesses under the supervision of private physicians, primarily in the comfort of their own homes. Services may also extend to nursing homes and private healthcare facilities. As a non-profit organization, the Visiting Nurse Association of Southeast Missouri is committed to delivering quality care and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient symptoms and responses to treatment.
• Educate patients and caregivers on self-care techniques and end-of-life comfort measures.
• Administer intravenous (IV) and injectable medications as prescribed.
• Provide pain management and wound care, including ostomy care as required.
• Communicate any changes in the patient’s health status to the physician and the interdisciplinary hospice team.
• Support patients in achieving and maintaining independence.
  
  

Required Skills

• Strong assessment skills to evaluate patient conditions and treatment efficacy.
• Proficient in patient and caregiver education with a focus on compassion.
• Excellent communication abilities regarding medications, dietary needs, and disease management.
• Experience in administering IV therapies and managing complex care needs.
• Capability to handle physical demands, including lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.
  
  

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Possession of a valid Missouri nursing license.
• Minimum of one year of nursing experience; preference for candidates with hospice or home health background.
• Reliable transportation and current automobile insurance.
• Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematics, and follow instructions.
• Successful completion of a drug screening and criminal background check.
• Not listed on the Employee Disqualification List (EDL).
• Submission of a complete application along with at least two professional references with contact information.
