Visitor Experience Ambassador
VisitPITTSBURGH is a tourism development organization dedicated to expanding the tourism economy across Allegheny County. The organization generates positive economic impact across the tourism verticals of business events, sports, and leisure travel. VisitPITTSBURGH achieves its goals, including ensuring the region of certain economic benefits, through the combined efforts of all team members throughout the organization.
The Visitor Experience Ambassador reports to the Manager, Visitor Engagement and is a part-time/as-needed position responsible for promptly and effectively assisting business and leisure traveler inquiries or concerns at permanent and special event locations. This role includes coverage at our Welcome Centers, as well as welcome tables at visitor-centered locations including but not limited to hotels, outdoor festivals, and special event spaces in the Pittsburgh region.
Essential Functions
• Deliver exceptional customer service to all on-site visitors providing accurate and helpful information around topics such as popular attractions, transportation, restaurants, and lodging.
• Ensure a positive and engaging interaction with visitors, leaving a lasting impression of Pittsburgh's hospitality.
• Other projects as assigned by Manager, Visitor Experience or Director, Destination Experience related to visitor experience for business event attendees or leisure visitors.
Skills & Specifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in hospitality, tourism, or a related field is a plus.
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Familiarity with Pittsburgh's attractions, events, and tourism resources is required.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekend and evening shifts.
• Proactive problem-solving skills to address visitor inquiries effectively.
• Team player mentality and the ability to collaborate with other visitor experience staff.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as general internet usage.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
• Occasionally move boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Comfortable working occasional outdoor locations and varying weather conditions.
This role is part-time with no guarantee of schedule or a minimum number of work hours each year.
