Job Purpose:
The Shipping Lead is responsible for all outbound activity from our Kenosha Distribution Center. This is a fast-paced environment requiring high attention to detail, ability to solve challenges independently and work within a team. This position provides coaching and direction to material handler associates and reports directly to the Warehouse Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee all outbound activity to ensure timely and accurate service to internal and external customers.
- Become proficient in all aspects of the warehouse / distribution processes. including but not limited to: receiving, put away, cycle counting, allocate & pick material, shipping, returns, and booking carriers to meet expected customer shipping dates
- Cross train department staff.
- Provide hands-on support for the department.
- Build strong partnerships with cross functional departments.
- Drive compliance and accountability with safety, quality and productivity goals in support of warehouse leadership team objectives.
- Provide recommendations on process improvement and assist with implementation.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work well in fast paced team environment.
- 3 years of warehouse experience, ideally with 1 year in a lead role.
- Proven leadership and organizational skills
- ERP / WMS and computer systems proficiency
- Forklift experience
- Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
- Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50lbs.
- Ability to safely operate a lift truck and pallet-jack.
- Reaching, bending and standing for long periods of time are also required.
Environmental Conditions
- The Distribution Center is a heated a partially air-conditioned facility with adequate lighting.
- Atmospheric conditions will vary according to the weather due to the opening and closing of dock doors.
Good Manufacturing Practices for Food Safety:
All Operations employees are responsible for the safety and quality of ViskoTeepak products. Any and all food safety and quality issues must be reported to the supervisor immediately. Back-up operators for this position will be advised of this and must be properly trained to run this operation using appropriate sanitation and food safety procedures.
