What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Consultant- ABA position at Vista Autism Services?
The Behavior Consultant addresses goals and areas of student need across school related environments, by assessing the current needs, developing programs, and monitoring the implementation of prescribed programs, and training the necessary team members. The Behavior Consultant also supports the coordination of care between agencies that support the family and school teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops, implements, and monitors behavioral goals within the IEP
- Conducts all interactions with students and internal and external team members in a positive, professional, and caring manner
- Collaborates and communicates regularly with internal and external team members, including families, agencies and Managed Care Organizations and Case Managers
- Trains and monitors Classroom Technicians and the Teacher on implementation of behavioral goals and behavior plan
- Provides coaching to all team members in a supportive and collaborative manner and receives and implements coaching from others to improve performance
- Adds to the capacity of the department through development of systems and trains fellow department members and when applicable, provides BCBA supervision
- Develops and provides training to Vista employees and stakeholders on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Effectively assess student needs and areas of growth to inform behavior planning processes
- Leads behavior review meetings, staff rehearsal/practice with behavior plan
- Serves as a lead for the classroom environment, in the absence of a Special Education Teacher
- Maintains and submits all required documentation by expected deadlines
- Completes other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The following positions or frequent movements are typical of the job: sitting, walking, running, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, kneeling, and crawling, often for extended periods of the workday. Assignment may require the ability to physically move clients during possible physical interventions in order to maintain a safe learning environment.
The position requires that an individual be able to learn new tasks quickly and effectively. Job requirements may change frequently. The ability to understand and carry out detailed, involved, instructions is mandatory. Subject to inside environmental conditions.
EXPECTED SCHEDULE
Full-time days and hours of the workweek are Monday through Friday as agreed upon by management, the classroom schedule, and the respective school district calendar. This position is also expected to attend a range of 5-10 professional development days annually. Dependent upon qualified student enrollments over Extended School Year, there will be incentivized compensation provided for hours worked during the ESY schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in related service field required
- Behavior Specialist Licensure required
- Previous experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders required
- Previous experience or knowledge delivering Applied Behavior Analysis programming and methodology required
- High proficiency of Microsoft Office products and Internet applications required
- Ability to implement, train, and coach other staff on the implementation of services and proper crisis prevention and intervention techniques required
- Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements
- Successful completion and renewal of emergency prevention & intervention strategies required
- Successful completion of all required PA Department of Education trainings required
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Behavior Analyst Board Certification highly desired
- Current First Aid and CPR Training highly desired
