ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Expertise:
- Uses an understanding of research and best practice in education to support the design and implementation of a coherent instructional program aligned to standards (aligned curriculum, assessment, instruction and intervention) that is accessible to all students.
- Understands and can teach others how to use culturally and linguistically responsive instructional strategies that engage, challenge, and build learner independence.
- Uses school data to identify high-leverage, focused and sustained professional learning opportunities that include whole staff training, teacher collaboration time and one-on-one coaching for teachers.
- Focuses his or her own and others’ attention persistently and publicly on learning and teaching by initiating and guiding conversations about student learning that are oriented towards high expectations and measurable goals.
- Plans and provides interventions for struggling staff. Is able to have difficult conversations with staff when needed to support continued growth. Is able to leverage high performers strategically to support colleagues in improving their practice.

- Creates, communicates and maintains a clear, compelling vision for high school and college readiness while motivating and inspiring others to work towards that vision.
- Continuously collects, analyzes, and uses multiple forms of data to monitor school, staff, and student performance in order to make adjustments along the way.
- Conducts root cause analysis to better understand and address obstacles that stand in the way of successful achievement of measurable goals.
- Anticipates and effectively manages conflict, using active listening and conflict-management skills to proactively resolve disagreement among stakeholders.
- Establishes a school culture that values creativity and innovative problem solving, encouraging imaginative thinking and new ways of personalizing learning for all students.

- Proactively monitors the school budget, driving available financial resources to areas of greatest need and opportunity.
- Creates efficiencies in use of time to maximize focus on goals, priorities and deadlines.
- Establishes systems for monitoring School Improvement Plan progress and communicating process with staff.
- Distributes leadership for monitoring school operations and escalates unresolved issues when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or related field.
- Experience as an assistant principal and/or principal is preferred but not required
- A minimum of 5 years teaching experience, preferably at the middle or high school level, with a history of improving student achievement
- Proven management and team building skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills
- Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment
- California Clear single-subject or multiple subject teaching credential
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desirable
- Valid CA Administrative Credential or comparable out of state credential, which is transferrable
- Experience with Kagan Cooperative Strategies, Way of Council, and Workshop model of pedagogy a plus.

COMPENSATION:
The annual salary range for Assistant Principal is $$92,700 to 115,200 depending on years of experience. In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefits plan as well as the opportunity to impact a growing, mission-driven organization that is committed to the success of students in Los Angeles.
