Role Overview :
Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services is accepting resumes for an Overnight Youth Development Counselor.
This is an awake, overnight position for the care and supervision of emotionally and behaviorally challenged adolescents. This position will handle any situation that may arise at night regarding the care and supervision of the adolescents.
We currently have multiple shifts available. Overnight hours are from 10 : 30pm to 8 : 30am and some of the schedules can include working weekends.
Essential Job Duties (other duties may be assigned) :
- Constant supervision, protection and care of youth, individually and in groups at all times in a manner consistent with their personal rights, to ensure safety within a trauma informed framework.
- Checks on each room in each wing at 15-minute intervals, at a minimum.
- Stays awake and alert all night. Helps a child whose sleep is disturbed by applying soothing interventions.
- Logs all incidents occurring during the night as required and leaves voicemail messages for clinicians when warranted.
- Serves as an effective advocate for all youth in placement and understands / demonstrates the requirement of reporting suspected abuse and / or mistreatment of youth under their care (this includes and is not limited to physical abuse and verbal abuse).
- Completes individual chart notes per agency policy and procedure.
