What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Peer Support Specialist position at Vista Family Services?
Certification as a Peer Support Specialist is required for this position.

Peer specialists model recovery, teach skills and offer supports to help people experiencing mental health challenges lead meaningful lives in the community. Peer specialists promote recovery; enhance hope and social networking through role modeling and activation; and supplement existing treatment with education, empowerment, and aid in system navigation. Services provided include, but are not limited to:
· Assisting in the development of participants’ goals
· Advocating for the needs of participants.
· Peer mentoring
· Assisting participant in engaging or re-engaging with participant’s natural
supports (e.g. family, friends, other loved ones, neighbors)
· Facilitating job readiness training
· Assisting participant to develop self-advocacy and problem-solving skills
· Role modeling behaviors, attitudes and skills that promote recovery and
wellness that is needed for resiliency and coping
· Assisting participants with identifying and utilizing their strengths
· Role modeling the facilitation of collaborative relationships
· Assisting participants in accessing community and social services
· Facilitating support groups
Peer Support Services are non-clinical and designed to help initiate and sustain the individual in his/her recovery. Ability to pass a criminal background check and Certification as a Peer Support Specialist is required for this position.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
