The Lead Medical Assistant (MA) primarily performs administrative duties but also provides clinical work as needed for the Vista Physician Group (VPG). Administrative duties include, but are not limited to, management of the local electronic medical record system with regards to training and education on current or new functionality; and will oversee training of staff working in the outpatient clinics. The Lead MA is responsible for oversight of Quality measures assigned to providers within VPG, including monitoring and data uploads. Functions as coach and role model for clinical staff and precepts students. The Lead MA provides initial / ongoing EMR training to all staff as needed. Facilitates and leads VPG improvement initiatives; works independently, uses sound judgment and handles complex situations effectively and proactively. Must have demonstrated leadership abilities and maintain professionalism at all times. This Lead MA will be required to receive and adapt to change, sometimes with little advance notice.

- Primary responsibilities include training of providers and staff in multiple functions within the outpatient clinics and roles of VPG.
- Responsible for management, maintenance and reporting of all quality measures for VPG providers as assigned.
- Responsible for performing required EMR builds under the guidance, training, and direction of the Leader of EMR Training & Content, including education and training for all EMR updates and/or changes.
- Required to demonstrate and teach all knowledge, skills and abilities of a Medical Assistant.
- Complete special projects in a timely and professional manner when assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information for patients, employees and proprietary data.
- Participate in staff meetings/activities/in-services.
- Graduate of an approved school - Medical Assistant program.
- Certification from one of the following organizations: AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCT, preferred.
- Maintains national medical assisting certification from one of the following organizations listed above, preferred.
- At least 2 years as a CMA with VPG, or at least 5 years elsewhere.
- BLS certification
