What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at VISTA MARIA?
TASKS OF THE POSITION
Plans and organizes work to meet all job requirements according to agency and COA standards,
licensing, and funding requirements.
Works cooperatively and in collaboration with other staff and representatives of other agencies.
Works cooperatively and in collaboration with the clinic staff all residential staff on the Vista Maria
campus.
Demonstrates personal integrity and professional demeanor in accordance with policy and procedures,
ethics of agency and professionalism (i.e. client confidentiality).
Makes and maintains all client appointments on campus (i.e. eye, dental, and all other medical
appointments).
Responsible for phlebotomy, EKG’s Pulmonary Function Testing, injections and working with physicians
and clients for on campus appointments.
Audits all medical charts and completes all required reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintains medical records for all clients (new and old).
Plans and organizes filing of medical records to meet the standards of COA, licensing and Vista Maria
policy and procedures/requirements.
Regularly prepares for and participates in supervision, departmental and other agency meetings.
Performs some general secretarial duties such as answering telephones, taking/relaying messages,
typing/word processing, filing, as well as serves as a primary source for on campus clinic
services/appointments and secondary source for off campus appointments.
Performs any and all other related clinic/clerical duties as assigned by Administrator of Health
Services.

Demonstrated ability to interact positively in a culturally diverse environment.
Demonstrated proficient skills in basic computer software/technology and use of office equipment.
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to complete tasks independently.
Valid MI driver’s license without relevant restrictions.
