Summary:
Responsible for the safety and well-being of students, staff and school facilities and assets at the assigned school location. Duties include supervising and monitoring students within and outside the school building, enforcing appropriate student behavior, communicating with students regarding issues and/or behavior, escorting students and/or unauthorized visitors, assisting with fire drills and other threats and assisting in removal from classroom of disruptive students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise and monitor the interior and exterior of the school building before, during and after school to ensure the safety and welfare of students and staff and to ensure the security of school facilities and assets.
Responsible for validating that exterior doors are secure throughout the

Daily 40% school day. May supervise student detentions, including but not limited to, in-school suspension. Provide crowd control in hallways, passing periods, courtyard, parking lots, cafeteria and/or other gathering spaces and intercede on fights and other disturbances.

Maintain familiarity with and enforce Student Conduct and Discipline Code,
Safe Schools Handbook and other school rules and regulations. Administer warnings to students and refer them to building administrators for

Daily 15% disciplinary action. Communicate with students to discuss altercations, behavior and/or progress; to mentor and/or counsel at-risk students; and to provide reinforcement of expected behavior.

Watch for disturbances, fights, unauthorized visitors, or criminal activity.
Assess danger and calls for assistance if necessary. Intervene to halt or prevent fights, disturbances or other incidents and diffuse threatening or

Daily 15% confrontational situations between students and others. Help to ensure order is restored and students unharmed. Investigate a variety of student incidences, including fights, thefts, weapons and substance abuse.

Escort students to and from the office for disciplinary reasons and escort unauthorized personnel from the campus as needed. Complete daily reports

Daily 5% which may include documenting suspicious activities, criminal incidents, fights and witness statements.

Assist administrators with emergency preparedness, drills including lockdown and secure perimeter drills, tornado drills, fire drills and

Daily 2% evacuation drills. Assist in carrying out Emergency Response Plans in the event of an actual crisis.

Electronically maintain accurate and complete security records pertaining to
Wkly 5% discipline warnings, parking control and criminal events.

Assist Campus Safety Officers, Security Resource Officers and law
W/M 3% enforcement when requested.

Monitor parking, issues parking permits, issues verbal or written warnings or
Daily 5% parking summonses as appropriate.

Mnthly 5% Attend ongoing training to maintain skills in safety practices

Daily 5% Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND
High school diploma or equivalent.

TRAINING:

One year and up to two years of experience working with high
EXPERIENCE: school or middle school students, and/or one year and up to two years of experience in military or law enforcement.

Oral and written communication, English language, interpersonal, basic computer, conflict management and behavior management skills. Operating knowledge of and

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, experience with personal computers and basic office productivity
EQUIPMENT & OTHER: software. Operating knowledge of two-way radios required within 2 weeks after hire. Basic operating knowledge of student information system software may be required within 2 weeks after hire. CPI training after hire.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, &
REGISTRATIONS: First Aid and CPR are preferred.

This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities; however, this
SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL position is responsible for supervising the behavior of students

Pay: $23.16 - $30.15 per hour
