Lead Economist

Position Summary:

The Lead Economist will author economic impact studies using IMPLAN or other economic modeling software. Vista’s long-term vision for this position is that it becomes a known entity for economic insights for both corporations and government organizations nationally.

Essential Functions:

• Author economic impact studies for Vista clients.
• Provide economic data insights to Vista clients.
• Post economic insights on social media.
• Support economic development and site selection projects with tax revenue projections.
• Participate in regional, state, or national economic dialogue through participation in economics associations and subject matter conferences.
• Coordinate with the Vista team in sales and marketing efforts related to economic analysis services.
• Present findings of work to Vista clients and related stakeholders.
• Work with the Vista Data team in the application of premium data into analysis work.
• Assist in the development of products and tools used by Vista.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Experience using IMPLAN for economic impact calculations, certification as an IMPLAN Certified Economist
• Experience in the creation of economic visuals in either Microsoft Excel or Tableau
• Financial forecasting and modeling in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to communicate and present analytical information effectively to stakeholders and clients
• Familiarity with CoPILOT and more recent AI applications to excel and other software
• Familiarity with GIS applications (i.e., ArcGIS or Google Earth Pro)
• Must maintain a desire to evolve subject matter expertise based on the needs of the role, along with an openness to learning various methods of analysis
• Experience in creating quality, consistent storytelling visuals is preferred.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or combination of equivalent education and experience required. Master's degree in economics or similar discipline preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in a similar field is required. 5 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
• Certification as an IMPLAN Certified Economist is preferred.
