Electronics Product Group – Hardware Design Power Design – Van Buren Twp. Michigan
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs and develops electronic circuits for the automotive industry, applying knowledge and principles of electronic theory, design, and engineering. May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to formulate and test electronic designs. Manages technical aspects of projects according that need to meet program timing. Interfaces with Systems, Software, Mechanical, and Manufacturing groups to ensure quality design of final product.
Typical Duties:
- Follow Product Development Process to develop and deliver HW designs
- Review and analyze customer requirements and component specifications
- Development of design concepts with cross functional teams
- Support/Lead Technical Design Reviews with internal HW team
- Support/Lead Technical Design Reviews with external customers
- Implementation of design concepts into detailed schematics and board layout
- Build and test hardware demonstrating compliance to customers requirements
- Support hardware deliveries to internal and external customers
- Provide design support through the production launch of the product
- Develop and Mentor Electrical Engineers to develop technical skills
YEARS EXPERIENCE: 7 years related experience
DEGREE STRONGLY PREFERRED: BSEE – Electrical/Electronics Engineering; MSEE degree considered a plus
DESIRED COMPETENCIES/EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated ability to develop design solutions and perform analysis on design concepts in order to demonstrate feasibility to meet requirements.
- Experienced in design and analysis of analog and digital circuits
- Experienced in performing Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA)
- Experienced in developing hardware requirements and hardware/software interface documents.
- Experience with embedded micro-controller based designs.
- Familiar with power supply design (linear, SMP), design for EMC, memory devices, displays (TFT), graphical display controllers, communication interfaces (CAN, LIN, USB, Bluetooth, MOST), tuners, antennas, audio amplifiers, automotive systems, microprocessors, ASIC’s, FPGA’s and Battery Management Systems.
- Able to interface with internal/external customers and component suppliers
- Able to use computer based design tools (Micrographix – DxDesigner, Mathcad, PSpice…) and Microsoft Office programs (WORD, EXCEL, Project, Outlook).
- Ability to support, lead, or manage cross functional teams of EE’s, ME’s, SW, ECAD, Mfg.
- Demonstrated ability to make proper trade off decisions and to negotiate with suppliers and customers.
- Has demonstrated effective communication skills and strong technical aptitude in Systems Engineering.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (i.e. Overtime, Travel, etc.): Occasional travel required (domestic and international). Occasional overtime or schedule flexibility required.
