Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optician / Optometric Assistant to join our team. You will play a crucial role in supporting our optometrists and ensuring the smooth running of our optometry practice. Your main responsibilities will include assisting patients in selecting and fitting eyeglasses to ensure optimal vision correction and comfort. You will be assisting with patient preliminary tests, maintaining accurate patient records, basic administrative tasks and providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Proven experience as an optician or optical dispenser
- Strong knowledge of lens options, frames, and lens coatings
- Familiarity with prescription interpretation and optical terminology
- Proficiency in using optical equipment and tools
- Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care as necessary
- Perform basic administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and processing insurance claims
- Prepare patients for examinations by performing preliminary tests, maintain clean examination rooms and equipment
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries and concerns
- Stay updated on industry trends and advances in optometric technology
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience as an optician /optometric assistant
- Knowledge of optometric procedures and basic eye care
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Proficient in using computer software for scheduling and record-keeping
- Ability to work well in a team environment
