JOB TITLE: Quality Assurance Supervisor
FLSA STATUS: Salary (Exempt/Non-Exempt)
LOCATION: Lindsay, CA
OBJECTIVE:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and overseeing a team in the execution of laboratory testing, quality assurance functions, and compliance activities. This role ensures that all laboratory procedures adhere to company policies, Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), ISO 17025 standards, FSMA standards, GFSI standards and customer-specific requirements. The position requires close collaboration with all departments to maintain product safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Laboratory Operations & Compliance:
- Manage, review, and ensure all internal laboratory reports comply with company policies and industry standards such as GLP, ISO 17025, FSMA standards, GFSI standards and specific customer requirements.
- Supervise the review and documentation of third-party laboratory reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Vita-Pakt’s standards.
- Ensure laboratory data is entered and verified in MS NAV for accurate tracking of quality metrics.
- Oversee fruit testing operations, including fruit, oil, and distillate production, ensuring that all testing, documentation, and recordkeeping are performed accurately and promptly.
- Coordinate with the Hold & Release team to oversee the Positive HOLD program in MS NAV, ensuring products and ingredients are quarantined and tested as required.
- Leadership & Team Development:
- Provide leadership to the quality team by promoting a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement in the lab.
- Set clear performance expectations, train, and mentor QA and lab team members on procedures, techniques, and compliance regulations.
- Schedule and assign tasks to ensure that laboratory operations are efficiently aligned with production needs.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of team members, providing regular feedback and development opportunities.
- Regulatory & Audit Support:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance.
- Assist with technical and regulatory compliance, including the preparation of documentation for customer audits, BRC certifications, and other third-party conformance reviews.
- Review and update HACCP and sanitation documentation in collaboration with Food Safety team, ensuring it complies with both regulatory and company guidelines.
- Cross-Department Coordination:
- Serve as a key contact for relaying critical test data and results to management, logistics, and other relevant departments in a timely manner to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of quality processes within manufacturing.
- Health & Safety:
- Ensure that laboratory personnel adhere to all safety guidelines and that the work environment is maintained in a safe, clean, and organized manner.
- Regularly review safety protocols and conduct hazard assessments to minimize risks in the lab.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and enforce compliance with safety standards, particularly in areas where industrial machinery and noise levels may pose a hazard.
- Process Improvement & Troubleshooting:
- Continuously seek to identify areas for improvement in lab operations, data accuracy, and process efficiency.
- Troubleshoot lab equipment and testing procedures, coordinating with maintenance and technical teams for repairs or adjustments as needed.
- Additional Duties:
- Perform other duties as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure the overall success of the department and company objectives.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Preferred bilingual (English and Spanish) but not required.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS NAV software. Familiarity with Microsoft Apps suite (Teams, Sharepoint, etc.) a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a diverse team.
- Comprehensive understanding of laboratory practices and quality assurance standards (GLP, ISO 17025, HACCP, BRC, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT TESTING:
- All candidates will be subject to a pre-employment physical exam and drug screening. Any job offer will be contingent upon satisfactory completion of these tests.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/ PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The work environment consists of both office and laboratory settings, with frequent exposure to industrial equipment and noise. Employees may need to wear hearing protection and other safety equipment when necessary.
- A standard 40-hour workweek is expected; however, flexibility is required, including working additional hours or shifts to accommodate production demands, new projects, or urgent situations.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle equipment.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- The employee in this position will be required to wear hearing protection and other Personal Protection Equipment as required.
