Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests and analysis on clinical specimens.
  • Operate and maintain complex laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results through quality control measures.
  • Prepare and analyze blood, urine, and other bodily fluids.
  • Document and report test results in a timely manner.
  • Interpret and evaluate the significance of laboratory findings.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the laboratory.
  • Adhere to safety and compliance regulations and protocols.
  • Assist in the training of new staff and laboratory students.
  • Conduct research and stay updated on advancements in laboratory medicine.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to discuss test results.
  • Participate in laboratory accreditation processes.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of laboratory specimens.
  • Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and order as necessary.
  • Contribute to the development of laboratory protocols and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
  • Current certification as a Medical Technologist (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and best practices.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems and electronic medical records.
  • Experience with quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficient in conducting laboratory tests and interpreting results.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Willingness to participate in continuing education activities.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Possess a valid state license or registration as required.
  • Strong ethical standards and professionalism in the workplace.
