Overview

The Pain Management Physician plays a pivotal role in providing comprehensive pain management services and oversight in a clinical environment. This position is crucial for enhancing the quality of life of patients suffering from acute and chronic pain conditions. The ideal candidate, including fellows, will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs. The role requires profound clinical knowledge, hands-on experience in interventional procedures, and effective communication skills to ensure that patient care is coordinated and compassionate. As a leader in pain management, the physician will also have the opportunity to contribute to research initiatives, community education, and the implementation of best practices in pain management. This position not only demands expertise in clinical practices but also a commitment to ongoing education to ensure the application of the latest methodologies in patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of patients experiencing pain conditions.
  • Develop and implement patient-centered treatment plans.
  • Provide guidance on medication management for pain relief.
  • Perform interventional procedures such as injections, nerve blocks, and spinal cord stimulation.
  • Educate patients and families on pain management strategies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physical therapists, psychologists, and rehabilitation specialists.
  • Monitor patient outcomes and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and treatment plans.
  • Participate in peer review and quality improvement activities.
  • Engage in research initiatives focused on advancements in pain management.
  • Provide mentorship and training for fellows and residents in pain management.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in pain management.
  • Participate in community outreach programs regarding pain management awareness.
  • Address any patient concerns or complaints in a professional manner.
  • Contribute to the development of protocols and guidelines for pain management within the institution.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine, or a related field.
  • Completion of a Pain Management fellowship preferred.
  • Board certification in Pain Medicine or eligibility to sit for the board certification.
  • Current medical license to practice in the state.
  • Proven experience in interventional pain management techniques.
  • Strong understanding of pain management pharmacology.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Experience in a clinical setting, particularly in pain management.
  • Fellows are encouraged to apply with relevant training and experience.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Knowledge of current pain management guidelines and protocols.
  • Ability to build rapport with patients and families.
