Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited course
- Certified Surgical Tech (CST) certification required within 6-months of employment.
- Must have knowledge of principles and procedures related to surgery
- At least 2-3 years of acute care hospital-based operating room experience
- At least 2-3 years of experience in Ortho, Neuro, General Surgery, Spine & Robotics.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for surgeries, including setting up surgical instruments and equipment.
- Ensure all surgical instruments are sterile and functioning before procedures begin.
- Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, and other requested materials.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgery to prevent infections.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeons and provide necessary instruments and supplies.
- Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including positioning and draping.
- Monitor patient vital signs and other parameters during surgery as needed.
- Clean and organize the operating room and instruments post-surgery.
- Assist in inventory control of surgical supplies and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Handle and care for specimens taken during surgery for laboratory analysis.
- Participate in surgical team meetings and contribute to discussions about improving procedures.
- Stay updated on new surgical technologies and techniques.
- Provide support to the surgical team in emergency situations.
- Document and report any issues or changes in patient condition during surgery.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments and technologies.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detailed knowledge of infection control procedures and protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Experience in an operating room setting preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
