Location: Chicago, IL or Hoboken, NJ (Hybrid)

Position Overview: Vital Proteins is seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager of Brand PR to join our fast-growing brand, part of the Active & Medical Nutrition Business Unit of Nestle Health Science. As the Manager of Brand PR, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive public relations strategies to enhance our brand reputation, increase brand awareness, and drive positive media coverage. You will report directly to the Senior Director of Consumer Engagement and work closely with cross-functional teams, including Campaigns, Media, Social, Influencer & Partnerships, and Brand, as well as collaborate with the Nestle Health Science Corporate Communications team. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a passion for building strong relationships with media outlets and influencers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic PR plans: In partnership with PR Agency, create and execute comprehensive public relations plans aligned with Vital Proteins' brand objectives and business goals. Identify key media targets and opportunities to maximize brand exposure and ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Media & Agency relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers in the health, wellness, and lifestyle sectors. Pitch story ideas, product launches, and brand initiatives to secure media coverage. Act as a primary point of contact for media inquiries and interview requests, and lead day to day management of Vital’s PR agency.
  • Content creation and press releases: Collaborate with internal teams to develop compelling content, including press releases, media kits, and other PR materials. Ensure all materials are accurate, engaging, and align with the brand's voice and values.
  • Thought leadership and industry events: Identify opportunities for executive team members and brand ambassadors to participate in thought leadership activities, industry conferences, and speaking engagements. Manage event logistics, including media partnerships and press coverage.
  • Crisis Communications: collaborate closely with Nestle Health Science Corporate Comms team in times of crisis or negative publicity to develop crisis communications plans, monitor media coverage and respond proactively to protect the brand’s reputation.
  • Performance measurement and reporting: Track and analyze the success of PR initiatives using relevant metrics and analytics tools. Prepare regular reports on media coverage, sentiment analysis, and other key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of PR efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in brand PR, preferably within the health, wellness, or consumer goods industry.
  • Strong media relations skills and a network of media contacts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic PR plans.
  • Experience in crisis management and maintaining a positive brand reputation.
  • Familiarity with digital media, social media platforms, and influencer marketing.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management abilities.
  • Strong analytical skills to measure and report on PR performance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Passion for health, wellness, and the Vital Proteins brand.
