Vital Strategies Human Resources Summer Associate

About the Program: Vital Strategies offers rising undergraduate seniors and graduate students a chance to build critical skills through meaningful, hands-on work. As a Summer Associate, you'll contribute to real-time projects that advance health equity, strengthen public health systems, and support the organization's operations. You'll also connect with leaders, join professional development sessions, and collaborate with peers throughout the summer. Duration: June - August, 2025 (10-12 weeks); minimum commitment of 3 days per week. Location: New York City/Tri-State Area – Hybrid work schedule (at least 2 days in office per week) Compensation: We offer a rate of $25 per hour for a maximum of 32 hours per week. The Opportunity: Join Vital Strategies’ dynamic HR team this summer and gain hands-on experience in a global public health organization dedicated to building equitable and effective health systems. As an HR Summer Associate, you'll contribute to impactful projects across talent acquisition, talent management, learning, HR systems, and compliance—all while collaborating with experienced professionals. With several global talent initiatives underway, this internship offers a unique opportunity to develop key HR skills, expand your network, and make a real impact. Responsibilities: Talent Acquisition and Development - Support global recruitment for new public health programs and operations. Activities include scheduling interviews, preparing interview panel materials, and screening/shortlisting resumes. Contribute to the strengthening of talent acquisition resources which includes developing a database of interview questions and interview scorecards by job level and function. Assist with the development and implementation of social media campaigns and the creation of career website content to assist with employer branding. Help plan a fall public health event focused on networking and career development. HR Projects - Support ongoing development of an organizational job leveling and competency framework. Conduct research on best practices for HR initiatives. Help coordinate global program induction series. Contribute to documenting Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) within HR. Participate in a global HRIS system conversion, providing adminsitrative and operational support. Qualifications: Education and Work Experience - Graduate student pursuing a degree in human resources management, business administration, global public health, nonprofit management or related field(s) Skills and Knowledge - Interest in human resources, talent management, learning and development, human resources information systems, human resources operations, and/or employee benefits Detail-oriented with a strong attention to accuracy. Experience assisting with administrative tasks in an office setting, preferably a nonprofit Comfortable analyzing and interpreting data Excellent organizational skills and ability to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in an international team environment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Experience with social media, Canva, or other design tools Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills Must be open to evolving responsibilities Enthusiasm for learning and a desire to contribute to a positive work environment. Additional Working Requirements: Student must be authorized to work in the United States at time of hire.
