The Pharmacist is responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in the provision of
pharmaceutical services within the institution.
Pharmacist Minimum Requirements
- Must hold a valid Pharmacist license in the state of Mississippi.
- Must be a supportive team member who contributes to and demonstrates teamwork and team concept.
- Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Able to deal tactfully with personnel, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Possess leadership and supervisory ability and be able to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
- Maintain all pharmacy records as required by Federal/State law and department policy.
- Respond to emergencies and critical incidents at the institution.
- Dispense all pharmaceuticals.
- Recognize and report possible synergistic, antagonistic, or cumulative effects of drugs.
- Provide consultation to staff regarding pharmaceuticals.
- Check expiration date of pharmaceuticals and return/dispose of outdated pharmaceuticals and non-returnable goods.
- Responsible for purchasing and inventory levels of all pharmaceuticals including over-the-counter medications.
- Orient, instruct, and supervise all pharmacy personnel.
- Maintain monthly statistical information and reports as directed by administration.
- Perform quarterly inspection of aspects of pharmaceutical services and assist in problem-solving activities.
- Attend training and meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
