Position Overview

The Manager, Internal Communications, reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, will be responsible for serving as the critical editorial eye, fostering a communication landscape that engages and informs, and overall, will have a vital role in the creation of engaging internal communications that reflect our VitalEdge culture and core values. This position will utilize several existing internal communications channels, including email, Microsoft Teams, VitalNet (intranet), and InsideEdge (newsletter), to keep employees connected to our organization’s mission, vision, and values and constantly focused on our strategic business objectives.


This position will also be responsible for communicating and managing the creation of agendas, presentations, logistics/technology, and post-meeting evaluations for key internal meetings, including bi-monthly Town Hall Meetings, monthly Senior Leadership Team (SLT) Meetings, and monthly People Manager Forums (PMF). The ideal candidate will have prior experience with content creation and a desire to continue to develop skills in a fast-paced corporate environment. The Internal Communications Manager will work closely with the CHRO, CEO, People Experience Team, Marketing Team, and department heads to elevate the communication experience and ensure alignment between the internal communications roadmap and the company's long-term goals.

It is imperative that this position be able to influence and align many stakeholders at one time. This position will be based in Waltham, MA, with 10% travel to other VitalEdge office locations and company events.


Responsibilities


Strategic Communication Development:

  • Design and execute a comprehensive internal communication strategy that supports the

company’s vision, values, and business objectives

  • Collaborate with the CEO, CHRO, executive leadership, and People Experience Team to

develop key messages and communication plans for organizational initiatives

  • Manage executive communication plans and change management strategies supporting

key organizational and business unit announcements


Content Creation and Management:

  • Produce high-quality internal communications materials, including newsletters, intranet

content, presentations, and announcements

  • Ensure consistent messaging across all internal channels, maintaining a unified voice that

reflects the company’s culture and values


Employee Engagement:

  • Curate engaging experiences through impactful communication and global

leadership/employee meetings that support a culture of transparency, promote employee

engagement, and enhance our developing company culture as an employer of choice

  • Collaborate with the Internal Communications Committee on the development of new

communication initiatives, providing content, editing, and design support

  • Collaborate with the People Experience Leadership Team to effectively communicate

people-focused initiatives (e.g., performance management, employee engagement, recognition, wellness, multicultural employee resource groups)

  • Develop continuous improvement concepts for internal communications based on the

company’s annual Voice of the Employee Engagement Survey Results

  • Lead quarterly newsletter stakeholder meetings and manage content assignments,

business unit submissions, edit content, and design the publication

  • Contribute to VitalNet by drafting original content, assisting stakeholders with content

development, and collaborating with the platform administrator on enhancements


Feedback and Analytics:

  • Present monthly and quarterly communications analytics (e.g., open rate, click rate,

regional/global platform engagement)

  • Analyze communication metrics and adapt strategies based on employee feedback and

engagement levels

  • Implement feedback mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of internal communication

initiatives, utilizing surveys and other tools to gather employee insights

  • Maintain and organize internal communication materials, including templates, style

guides, and standard process documentation, to ensure all communication deliverables are in alignment with branding guidelines and adhere to necessary reviews, approvals, and timelines


Crisis Communication:

  • Prepare and implement crisis communication plans to effectively manage internal

communication during times of change or uncertainty

  • Serve as a point of contact for internal communications in the event of organizational

changes, ensuring timely and transparent communication to all employees


Collaboration and Partnership:

  • Work closely with People Experience, Marketing, and other departments to ensure

alignment and integration of internal communication efforts with broader organizational strategies

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify communication needs and develop tailored

solutions that address specific departmental objectives


Project Management:

  • Establish clear roles, timelines, and deliverables for all initiatives
  • Ensure timely execution of projects and alignment with company objectives


Technology:

  • Manage the vendor partnership with our internal communications platform,

ChangeEngine


Required Skills & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or any Liberal Arts

degree

  • 5 years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or public

relations

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective communication strategies that drive

employee engagement and support organizational goals

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with communication tools and platforms (e.g., intranet, email marketing,

social media)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite). Prior

partnership with ChangeEngine preferred

  • Ability to work collaboratively and thrive in a dynamic, fast-changing environment and

build relationships with diverse stakeholders
