Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the operating room, assisting surgeons and ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are available for surgical procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of patient care, sterile processing, and adherence to HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality and safety.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments are properly sterilized and ready for use.
- Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and other supplies during operations.
- Monitor the patient’s condition throughout the procedure, providing support as needed.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow in the operating room.
- Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures and inventory of surgical supplies.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures in compliance with hospital policies.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices in surgical technology.
Requirements
- Certification as a Surgical Technician or equivalent experience in a surgical setting.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Experience in an Operating Room (OR) environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with sterile processing techniques and equipment handling.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Experience or knowledge in areas such as patient care, senior care, travel nursing, primary care, mammography, or toddler care is a plus.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergency situations.
