Summary
As a Volunteer at Vitality Hospice, you will play a vital role in supporting our mission by assisting patients and their families during their challenging times. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. As a Patient Buddy, you will gift a patient, or a few (your choice), your time. With input from the patient's family members, and guidance from the patients themselves, you will spend time with the patient(s) in ways that makes sense for them and you. Some just chit-chat, some like to be read to, and some will want company while listening to music or watching a movie, and there will be times when you sit quietly, sitting vigil, so the patient is not alone as they transition. As a member of the Hospice Team, you'll be the eyes and ears for the Team, too, passing on concerns and alerts when needed.

Vitality Hospice has 3 offices (Burlington, NJ, Wall, NJ & Langhorne, PA), which services these counties in New Jersey: Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean and Salem Counties and Bucks and Montgomery Counties in PA. We need volunteers throughout all that area,but each specific volunteer only goes where they are comfortable going to. We support patients in many nursing facilities, but we also have a good number of homecare situations; it's about an 80%/20% mix.
Requirements
There are just a few requirements: be at least 18 years old, have means to get to where our patients are, be a nice person and have time to give to others.
However, you should know that onboarding mirrors what is done for employees, so health and background checks are required, as are many HR-type forms.
