The Master Machine Mechanic are responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy machinery and equipment. With advanced knowledge and expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, garbage trucks and dump trucks. Their job involves conducting inspections, troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing repairs and replacements of faulty parts, and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently. Also involved in preventive maintenance tasks, such as lubricating, adjusting and servicing equipment to prevent breakdowns. Advanced and expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of heavy equipment.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Maintains, repairs, rebuilds, or replaces parts of the Heavy equipment within the fleet of Millard County Vehicles
- Expected to learn and have a comprehensive understanding in the proper operation of current diagnostic tools for all makes and models of County Vehicles.
- Maintains, repairs, rebuilds, or replaces parts on gasoline or diesel-powered equipment such as welders, generators, compressors, and pumps whether they are stationary or mobile.
- Maintains, repairs, rebuilds, or replaces parts of mobile heavy equipment such as dozers, scrapers, graders, cranes, forklifts, and all equipment maintained by Millard County.
- Able to use computer software for diagnostic and monitoring on large dozers and all newer equipment.
- Trained in the proper handling of fuels, oils, coolants, and other hazardous materials to prevent uncontrolled release or spillage of these agents.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Using diagnostic tools and equipment, identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems in heavy equipment.
- Perform repairs, replacements, and adjustments on faulty components and systems of heavy machinery, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Conduct regular inspections, lubrication, and maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates at optimal levels and minimize the risk of breakdowns.
- Investigate and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to identify the root cause and implement appropriate solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and service history. Generate reports on equipment conditions, repair costs, and recommendations for management.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards while working on heavy equipment. Identify and address potential safety hazards and recommend safety improvements.
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for repairs and maintenance.
- Conduct tests and performance evaluations on repaired equipment to ensure proper functioning and adherence to specifications.
