A Peer Support Specialist is responsible for providing mentoring and peer support for Seriously Mentally Ill (SMI) and/or clients with substance use disorders to assist the consumers in pursuing their wellness journey. Services are provided in an integrated behavioral health setting, of multi-disciplinary para-professional and professionals with a person-centered, family-centered, recovery-orientated approach to care.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide individualized health coaching to consumers in obtaining their health objectives.
- Co-facilitates groups/classes to support improved health outcomes for clients.
- Teaches others about managing their mental and physical health.
- Supports clients in learning how to make good choices for themselves.
- Works closely with Care Coordinator to engage clients in appropriate services and resources to assist in care coordination.
- Promotes client engagement in therapy with clinicians, engagement with psychiatric appointments, and compliance with healthcare system.
- Attend treatment planning meeting as needed to effectively mentor individuals care.
- Attend crisis management team meetings to effectively engage clients.
- Documentation and scheduling in electronic health record.
- Follows the Code of Ethics as stated in NAC 458.
- Complies with confidentiality requirements as set forth in CFR42 Part II and HIPPA regulations.
- Good communication skills.
