What are the responsibilities and job description for the Histo Technician/Lab Technician position at VitalSkin Dermatology?
VitalSkin continues to grow rapidly and we are searching for a Histotech to join our team in Urbana, IL.
As a full-time certified & experienced Histotechnician/Histotechnologist (HT/HTL) you will support our Dermatology and Pathology lab. You will be responsible for grossing, cutting, staining, and preparing tissue samples for the Dermatopathologist to review. You will also be responsible for prioritizing testing (IHC and Special Stain) procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner while maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations. Other duties are to be expected as they are assigned. We will also consider training a lab technician as well.
You will have the following minimum qualifications: Certification REQUIRED - (Histotechnician (HT)or a Histotechnologist (HTL). Prior experience using autostainers, microtomes, embedding centers, and ability to operate the Pathology LIS used. Attentive to detail and verifying patient data is a must. Proficiency in medical terminology. Prior experience working in a Medical EMR system. 2 years’ experience in a medical office or other healthcare setting. 2 years’ experience as a Histotech, Dermatology setting preferred. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds to maintain instruments within the lab.
