Counseling Services at Viterbo University invites applications for a full-time, grant funded Garrett Lee Smith Suicide Prevention Grant Coordinator (Garret Lee Smith [GLS] SAMSHA Grant) position.
The Garrett Lee Smith Suicide Prevention Grant Coordinator is a twelve-month, full-time, grant funded, full-benefit eligible salary position. This is a 3-year grant funded position with the possibility for renewal. The Grant Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day operations related to the GSL SAMSHA Grant; co-chair Viterbo University's CARE Team mental health subcommittee; coordinate university QPR training; complete presentations with external experts; attend trainings and community meetings related to suicide prevention initiatives; develop project materials; complete data collection and reporting in collaboration with the Program Director, SAMSHA Grant Officer and Evaluator. Identify, plan for and implement opportunities to collaborate with local and national organizations to help strength suicide prevention and awareness initiatives.
The primary responsibilities of this position are to:
GENERAL
- Serve as a primary contact for the GLS Suicide Prevention grant
- Help execute responsibilities of the grant per NOA provided by SAMSHA
- Attend monthly meetings with SAMSHA Grant Officer
- In conjunction with Program Director help develop and execute a plan to achieve primary objectives from GLS Grant NOA.
- Assist in the management of the GLS budget
- Develop and foster relationships with identified community partners
- Assume primary responsibility for preparation of grant reporting requirements
- Assist in the planning and execution of programs related to GLS Grant as identified in NOA.
OTHER
- Carry out other responsibilities and duties as delegated or assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience and/or interest in mental health promotion and advocacy
- Knowledge of and/or experience in conducting needs assessments, program planning, and program evaluation.
- Ability to collect and organize data, practice confidentiality, contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
Preferred Requirements:
- Prior work with federal grants and grant reporting.
- Knowledge of and/or experience working with specific evidence based mental health education programs and trainings (ie. QPR or peer support models)
- Experience working with underrepresented populations preferred, including but not limited to military populations, first-generation college students, college students of diverse backgrounds, LGBTQ individuals and student athletes.
- Experience in college health promotion, prevention, or counseling; social work; student affairs administration; community health/mental health; leadership development.
- Experience working in higher education/student affairs
- Experience with project management, including overseeing projects through the planning and implementation phases.
