Are you passionate about creating a safer, healthier campus community? Viterbo University is looking for a dedicated, proactive individual to join our team as the Violence Prevention Coordinator. In this impactful role, you will play a key part in developing and leading initiatives aimed at reducing interpersonal violence on campus. This full-time, twelve-month position is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of prevention and support services, working to foster a positive environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

As the Violence Prevention Coordinator, you will design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based programs focused on healthy relationships, effective communication, bystander intervention, and survivor support. You will also serve as the project director for the Grant to Reduce Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking on Campus Program under the Department of Justice's Office of Violence Against Women (OVW), contributing to a lasting impact on campus safety and wellness. This position reports to the Vice President of Student Life and Dean of Students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary OVW grant programmatic contact, implement daily OVW grant activities, and participate in trainings and conferences as required by the OVW grant.

  • Convene the coordinated community response team (CCRT) and other internal and external partners to coordinate efforts for addressing gender-based violence.

  • Develop the site's technical assistance (TA) assessment, strategic plan, and needs assessment and participate in all TA events supported by OVW.

  • Oversee day-to-day grant activities including administration of electronic grant management system, development of detailed task lists, compilation of reports, and data collection and reporting. Submit materials and additional internal reports as required.

  • Manage and oversee program budgets. Produce quarterly and biannual reports to federal and state funding agencies, as directed.

  • Establish and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders, as well as OVW Technical Assistance (TA) providers, to enhance institutional prevention education and response to address domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking (DVDVSAS).

  • Contribute to the planning, development, and implementation of overall health and wellbeing programming, education/trainings, and outreach efforts around community relevant topics.

  • Coordinate and/or support violence prevention programs for the campus community, including students, faculty, and staff, with the focus for underserved student groups.

  • Develop and implement new programs, workshops and trainings, as aligned with OVW grant program deliverables.

  • Develop and coordinate student peer health educator program, with the focus on violence prevention (including recruitment, selection, training, and on-going supervision. Attend regular meetings, provide supervision of students, and coordinate or serve as administrative support to the students.

  • Serve as a resource to students, faculty, and staff regarding health promotion, violence prevention, and advocacy.

  • Enhance the capacity of faculty and staff stakeholders in the community as partners to develop strategies to address the varied impacts of interpersonal violence and the health impacts of institutional/structural oppression related to health outcomes across institutional offices and academic departments.

  • Collaborate with supervisor to develop an end of the year assessment on accomplishments and recommendations for the program and campus/community program stakeholders including program planning, learning outcomes and program evaluation.

  • Maintain and develop skills via participation in continuing education opportunities and membership in aligned professional organizations.

  • Serve on campus and community committees.

  • Fulfill other responsibilities and duties as delegated or assigned.

General Requirements/Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required in public health, health promotion, higher education administration, counseling, psychology, or related field.

  • Two (2) years of experience with victim services, sexual violence prevention projects, health education, and/or related programs.

  • Knowledge of and/or experience in community needs assessments, program planning, logic model development, community-based evaluation methodologies, and assessment.

  • Knowledge of building, maintaining, and facilitating small group experiences and community-wide campaigns or programs; peer education facilitation, training, and assessment.

  • Excellent communication and organization skills.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS), Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), and/or National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP) Certified Advocate (CA) designation.

  • Knowledge of and/or experience working in violence prevention, response, and advocacy with college-age students and adult learners of all ages.

  • Experience working with underrepresented populations preferred.

  • Experience in college health promotion, prevention, or counseling; social work; student affairs administration; community health/mental health; leadership development and/or training and technical experience in aforementioned areas desired.

  • Experience working in higher education/student affairs preferred.

  • Experience with project management, including overseeing projects through the planning and implementation phases.
