Job Summary:
The Operations Manager leads facility operations to ensure commercial execution, providing technical and managerial expertise for efficient and profitable operation of elevators and/or terminals.
This includes inventory control, operational cost control, logistics, mix & blend, preventative maintenance, talent management, energy conservation, and asset security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage effective inventory control within company requirements
- Ensure operational cost control plan is maintained at or below target
- Develop and execute facility improvements with Location Manager
- Maximize mix & blend opportunities through space allocation and in-house stock utilization
- Schedule and lead preventative maintenance functions while ensuring a safe and reliable facility
- Lead talent development for operational staff to manage costs and guarantee uninterrupted facility operations
- Ensure all operational staff are properly trained and comprehend safety and operating procedures
- Apply generic program language to site-specific applications and extract critical data
- Implement energy conservation programs to enhance sustainability and reduce energy costs
- Maintain asset security to minimize exposure to theft, property damage, vandalism, and trespassing
- Provide leadership and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, environmental, and company programs
Other Job Functions:
- Communicate effectively with Regional Leadership regarding facility operations
- Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness
Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:
- Bachelor's or Technical Degree in Agriculture, Business, Engineering, or Safety (preferred)
- 3 years' experience in grain elevator or terminal leadership
- Leadership experience in an effective safety program
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office skills
- Mechanical and maintenance aptitude, with ability to operate, service, and troubleshoot machinery
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work and interact well with others
Work Environment:
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, kneel, and bend
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
- Outdoor work environment, including heights and inclement weather, approximately 80% of the time
