Job Summary

The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for all maintenance activities at the facility. This role will work directly under the on-site Operations Manager, with additional direction and guidance from the Regional Maintenance Manager and Regional Maintenance Lead.

The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of equipment and infrastructure at the facility. This role involves scheduling and prioritizing maintenance tasks, conducting regular preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and resolving equipment malfunctions, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth operations. The Lead Maintenance Technician will be involved with ordering and maintaining spare parts and implementing preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and optimize grain handling and storage processes.

Essential Job Functions

· Follow all safety procedures and protocols and ensure staff and contractors adhere to each accordingly

· Complete preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance throughout the facility

· Maintain a safe and reliable facility in accordance with OSHA grain & fertilizer handling standards

· Schedule maintenance functions with management

· Perform all maintenance tasks (with assistance as-needed)

· Operate hand and power tools

· Assist management in developing and executing facility improvements

· Lead all maintenance activities on-site (local and 3rd party)

Other Job Functions

· Provide insight on asset health and recommend any changes to maintenance practices

· Keep accurate and detailed records on all maintenance functions

· Keep accurate records of spare parts inventory

· Keep shop and lubrication storage area clean and organized

· Use of a variety of predictive maintenance tools and technologies (infrared, ultrasound, UOA, etc.)

· Light/basic heavy equipment maintenance and repair (service tracking, greasing, fluid top-off, etc.)

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills

· Ability to work and interact well with others

· Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

· Working knowledge of rotating equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs

· Basic computer skills

· Agricultural/farming or industrial maintenance background is a plus

· Some welding/fabrication, and/or machining experience is a plus

Special Demands

· Mechanical/technical hands-on experience

· Frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and use hands

· Frequently required to lift more than 50lbs.

· Frequently exposed to moving or mechanical parts

· Ability to work indoors and outdoors, at multiple elevations and in conditions which may include cold, heat, dust, and/or loud noise with use of personal protective equipment

· Ability to work overtime, holidays, and/or weekends as needed (harvest, shutdowns, emergency repairs, etc.)

· Frequent hands-on and labor intensive job duties as required
